The society was formed in January 2007 at West Plains, Mo.  Eric
Lewis, a long time country and bluegrass entertainer at the request
of many to produce a website of the information of the history of the
Grand Ole Opry founded the society on September 6, 2006 and it was
formed and established on January 20, 2007. The society is important
as it tells the history of where the inspiration for the Opry originated.
The inspirtation for the Grand Ole Opry, Mr. Hay got in 1919 at at cabin hoedown in our Ozarks area and that cabin is located 24 miles south of West Plains, Mo at at place called Old Town, Missouri, south of Thayer, Missouri just north of the Arkansas line of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas.  As many do not know who Mr. Hay was or where the inspiration came from, we feel it is important to preserve this very important part of our Ozarks history and heritage.  Eric Lewis is also a part of our Ozarks history, having promoted the music for 51 years.
