History:George D. Hay Was born in Attica, In and was involved in radio and newspaper, he came to Mammoth Spring, Ark in 1919 as a reporter for the Commercial Appeal on Memphis, TN to report on a marine who had gotten killed in WWI, he was invited to a cabin hoedown in Old Town, Mo and with this inspiration came the birth of the Grand Ole Opry in 1925 when he became program director of the new WSM radio station, it was moved to the new War Memorial building in Nashivlle and later to the Ryman Auditorium.

fiddle player was Mr. Hay's first person to
appear on the Grand Ole Opry.
